Administrative and public diplomacy officer (maternity cover)

As a maternity cover, the Embassy has a vacancy for a full time employed administrative and public diplomacy officer. The appointment will be for two years starting January 2017.

The Danish Embassy in Bucharest covers Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The Danish Ambassador with a group of highly motivated Danish and Romanian staff works on tasks within the areas of

  • Political and economic reporting - including on EU-issues
  • Trade and investment promotion
  • Consular assistance
  • Public diplomacy, including promotion of Danish culture
  • Administration, including accounting and IT-issues

The position

As a maternity cover, the Embassy has a vacancy for a full time employed administrative and public diplomacy officer. The appointment will be for two years starting January 2017.

The officer will work closely with the Ambassador as executive assistant including calendar management, travels arrangements, updating contacts, official communication and correspondence, etc. The role includes:

  • liaison with diplomatic missions accredited in Bucharest and Chișinău, and between the Embassy and ministries and governmental institutions in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova
  • provide translation when requested (Romanian/English)
  • administrative issues relating to health insurance, invoicing as well as tax issues and property issues, including legal issues 
  • participate in reception duties
  • back up in the consular section

In addition, the officer will hold responsibility for the PD-activities of the Embassy. He/she will:

  • participate in identifying and establishing external contacts in politics, academia, and media 
  • maintain and update the contact portfolio of the Embassy
  • collaborate with other sections of the embassy in developing PD-ideas, take initiatives, apply for funding and execute PD-activities

For the right candidate the position may further include tasks in monitoring political and economic developments and performing basic analytical work.

The candidate

The ideal candidate for the position has:

  • a relevant academic degree in public administration, political science or similar
  • is fluent in Romanian and English and has excellent writing skills; knowledge of Danish is an asset but not a prerequisite.  
  • a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs  
  • a strong motivation for work and personal development, is self-driven in taking initiatives and capable of working independently
  • a pleasant, mature and outgoing personality with a high sense of responsibility and manner
  • is a team-player with good interpersonal skills
