The Danish Embassy in Bucharest is looking to fill a vacancy for a full-time position from 1st of April 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Embassy in Bucharest represents the interests of Denmark in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova.

The work of the Embassy cover issues within a broad range of areas such as:

  • Political and economic issues – in particular in the context of EU-cooperation
  • Trade and investments
  • Consular matters
  • Public diplomacy
  • Administration

The Embassy is seeking to recruit a locally employed academic member of the staff. The candidate will be working in close cooperation with the Ambassador in the daily management of the Embassy and its staff and will contribute to addressing issues within all areas of activity of the Embassy. In the absence of the Ambassador, he or she will be in charge of running the Embassy.

The working language of the embassy is English.

Main tasks of the position includes:

  • Maintain a general overview of political developments in Romania and in Moldova, particularly in areas of importance to EU-cooperation, and to report on relevant issues in this context
  • Provide analysis and advice on political, economic and legal as well as on commercial issues as pertaining to a Danish context
  • Establish and maintain contacts with a broad network of relevant partners, including government officials, civil society, research institutions, private companies and business representatives and other stakeholders of relevance to the work of the Danish Embassy.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of activities aimed at improving relations between Denmark and Romania and at furthering the position of Denmark in Romania
  • Assist Danish citizens where relevant, in particular in matters relating to private and civil law
  • Administrative tasks, including budgeting
  • Security and IT

Qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Law, Economy, International Relations, Social Science or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) as working language and in addition communication skills in Danish or another Nordic language.
  • Capacity to understand the political context of the various areas of work.
  • Solid IT skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a small and close team with special emphasis on flexibility and good cooperation

Employment will be on fixed-terms based on a local contract. The salary will be based on qualifications and local conditions.

Recruitment presupposes security clearance by the Danish authorities.
