Facility Maintenance and Security Officer/Driver

The Royal Danish Embassy in Bucharest is looking for a Facility Maintenance and Security Officer/Driver. Job description 
As a member of the Administrative Department at the Embassy, you will have a multifaceted role, providing comprehensive support to the Administrative Department as the Embassy's Facility Maintenance and Security Office and also serving as Driver for the Ambassador and occasionally other staff members. 
This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of the Embassy across various areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facility maintenance and light gardening: Ensure the Embassy and the Ambassador’s residence are well-maintained and kept in good technical condition by identifying needed repairs and reporting them to the Head of Administration. Conduct basic garden maintenance tasks such as mowing the lawn, sweeping the courtyard, clearing snow, and other seasonal duties.

  • Operational support: Run errands as needed (including shopping, delivery of correspondence, empty the Embassy’s pigeonhole in the Romanian MFA), assist with practical and security matters related to events and activities, and perform light repair work to maintain the Embassy and the Ambassador’s residence.

  • Administrative and reception duties: Assist with manning the reception, including by registering and welcoming guests in addition to answering and transferring calls. Support the Head of Administration with tasks such as updating inventory lists, maintaining security, communication, and IT equipment, while assisting with procurement by researching and comparing offers, and other duties as required to support the Embassy's operations.

  • Driving and vehicle management: Drive for the Ambassador, other staff members, as well as guests and delegations as requested by the Embassy management, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient transportation. Oversee the maintenance, washing, servicing, and appropriate registration and insurance of the Embassy’s diplomatic vehicles.

The working language at the Embassy is English.

About you 
We are seeking a highly motivated, practical, and versatile individual who thrives in dynamic and multicultural environments. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A service-oriented mindset, flexibility, professionalism and strong social skills. You should be motivated by the diverse responsibilities of your role. 
  • Communication skills in both written and oral English (preferably at A2 level or above). If insufficient, willingness to study at courses provided by the Embassy. Fluent in Romanian. 
  • A positive and mindful approach with a strong sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for managing a variety of tasks.
  • Experience working with IT, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • Practical experience in driving. Experience with gardening, maintenance, and light repair work will be an advantage.

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview soon after deadline. The final candidate will have to pass the security clearance conducted by the Danish authorities, before the Embassy can formally offer an employment contract.
