The Royal Danish Embassy in Bucharest is looking for a Commercial Assistant (junior position). The Embassy is part of the Danish Foreign Service under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. 

Job description

The Trade Department of the Royal Danish Embassy supports Danish companies seeking to enter or expand their activities on the Romanian market. The Commercial Assistant will provide analytical, administrative, and organisational support to the Trade Department and will work under the supervision of the Head of the Trade Department.

The position requires a structured and service-minded approach, good analytical skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a professional and confidential manner.

The Commercial Assistant will be responsible for contributing to the daily work of the Trade Department, including:

  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, briefings, and background material on economic, commercial, and sector-specific developments relevant to Denmark–Romania trade relations
  • Conducting desk research to support services provided to Danish companies, including market overviews, sector analyses, partner searches, and company-level research, under the guidance of the Head of the Trade Department
  • Collecting, compiling, and structuring data from public and institutional sources, including the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Eurostat, and relevant Romanian public and corporate registries
  • Providing practical and administrative support in connection with events, business delegations, meetings, and official visits, including coordination with authorities, venues, and service providers, as well as handling invitations and follow-up
  • Preparing and submitting formal written inquiries to Romanian public authorities in relation to trade- and business-related matters
  • Maintaining overview and documentation related to Trade Department activities, including invoices, contracts, and supporting documents, using CRM systems and digital filing tools
  • Supporting the Embassy’s communication activities by contributing content for relevant communication channels, including social media, as required

About you

We are seeking a structured and methodical approach to work colleague, with good cooperation and communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Good communication skills in both written and oral English (preferably at B1 level or above). Fluent in Romanian
  • Strong user-level knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to conduct structured research and present findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Interest in economic, commercial, and trade-related issues
  • Experience with communication or event-related tools such as Canva and Mailchimp
  • Familiarity with public data sources, registries, or statistical databases
  • Previous exposure to trade promotion, business development, or economic diplomacy

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview soon after deadline. The final candidate will have to pass the security clearance conducted by the Danish authorities, before the Embassy can formally offer an employment contract.

Expected starting date is 01 May 2026, depending on your availability and security clearance.
